Skagit County Public Transportation Proposition No. 1

Election Date: November 4, 2008

VOTE YES FOR TRANSIT!


Benefits:
Preserving the service threatened by the impending grant expirations. Working toward service expansions repeatedly requested by citizens:
  • Some service on Sundays
  • Some late evening service
  • More frequent Saturday service
  • Service to East Mount Vernon
  • More frequent service to Anacortes, La Conner, East County
  • Service every 15 minutes on at least some routes in the Burlington-Mount Vernon core
  • Satisfying the waiting list for 28 more van-pools.
Other benefits include reducing congestion, air pollution
The Cost:
0.2% increase in Sales Tax (equivalent to 2c on a $10.00 purchase). With the approved increase, this remains the lowest sales tax rates in the Western Washington. For a household with median income it will mean an extra $29 per year.

Proposition No. 1 does NOT raise property taxes.
